A Quiet Hero

A strong tower
A beloved Papa

Soccer practice...Erin dancing & singing 'you can't get past me.' She was so distracted, he scored.

1, 2, 3 BLOW!!!
My dad's favorite...angel food cake

Outside my house (over my folks home)

As the sun sets on my dad's 64th birthday, I think about all I have learned and admire about him. He is a man seeking after God's heart, he is a man of commitment and love, he is a man of few words but gracious deeds. He is my dad and I love him.
Happy Birthday dad!

Can't touch this!

No nap droopy eye!
One arm 'Drewbie'

Faces of Tyler

Drew has spent the past few days walking around with one arm. Or so it looks. He has gotten many stares, but he would hardly notice. Everytime I go to touch his arm he tells me 'you can't touch this, it still hurts.' While bath time and changing shirts is horribly painful, Drew is a tough little one and is not letting this slow him down. Tyler is sweet and protective with him. He reminds Drew that 'it gets better soon.'

Drew's potty update...still in underwear and doing good!

It's back...

So what a way to start off the new year...with a broken bone!! The sling is back and this time it's for Drew. It's a good thing I had not gotten rid of it. This morning I went into Drew's room and tried to pick him up. He screamed as I reached under his arm and started to lift him (thinking it was the bed again). I could not get into the doctor till 2:45 so we decided to go to a birthday party at Pump it up (it's a bounce house place that is really fun). While there a friend's mother who is a nurse checked him out and we concluded it had to be something with his elbow or shoulder popping out of socket since you could not feel a break or any swelling that would be associated with a break.
Later this afternoon, the doctor examined him by twisting his arm, moving it up and down, having him grab things in air...and thought it might be a behavioral thing. So he was sending us on our way, but as I lifted him he screamed bloody murder! So now Drew thinks his 'armpit is broken.' We were sent over to get 7 x-rays (in order to see if it was rib, shoulder, arm, elbow, collarbone, etc)...and found out it's the collarbone in the same arm that Tyler broke back in October. So gymnastics is out for Drew for 6 weeks...
In the midst of it, Drew continued rocking on the potty training and had NO accidents today even with the excitement of a party, trip to the doctor's office, multiple x-rays, and dinner at Rico's! Way to go Drew! You get an A+!
Oh, and yes we are getting bed rails in the morning!! Obviously! Two broken bones are enough for us.

Rocking in 2009

Wii Rock Band 2

The guitarist...
He blew through it with ease!

He took it to the streets!

The drummers...
She brought it!

She was super star!
He rocked it!

Vocals...
And she was a star!

A good night with friends :)
We gathered with some close friends last night to rock in the new year Wii style. Wii for those that don't know is an interactive video game. Our choice game was Rock Band...you pick a song and perform it with the hope of staying on rhythm, pitch, beat, etc (including the singers!)...you can fail out. It's serious and serious fun! Everyone got into it and it was a great time!

Many of God's blessing in 2009 & happy new year.

Potty, oops, potty, potty

Digging
Tyler's face...tired of all the 'potty breaks'

Really likes socks for gloves...not a clue where he got this...

Drew has been rocking today with the potty business! We did have one 'oops' today at the gym (but what can you expect). And does it really count if I don't have to change him??? All in all it's been a great day...we did a trip to the Y, library, grocery store, Chickfila, and much time outside in the backyard ALL IN UNDERWEAR.

First day on potty training (take 2-since I started a few months back & stopped) Drew gets an A! Here's to hoping for many A's and not many F's!

Let it begin...

Today marks a new day...I have been lazy about potty training Drew and this morning I got a little more serious. So far so good (though on trips out of the house I threw the diaper back on). Tomorrow I will start the 100%, all the time underwear thing. And so begins the long journey of accidents.

For the love of a candy cane!

Most of you know that I am an ultra picky eater...and this past year I have been working on expanding my eating habits. Most my life I have not eaten fish, tomatoes, most veggies and since I have had to 'force' them on my kids I have followed in tow. Last January, Tyler's eating had gotten so bad (he was 2 and half) that all he would eat was milk and cheerios. He had phased everything else out...so after a 10 day lock down, in which he went to bed 3 times without eating anything for 2 of 3 meals we have come a looooong way. Though every meal is still a challenge, tonight we went beyond the everyday broccoli, carrots, peas, green beans, sweet potatoes, corn, etc to the hard core stuff! SPINACH! And it was organic spinach! Drew was crying yucky (and he is my eater) and after one bit...was saying 'yummy, yummy for my tummy!' And Tyler took it down with the promise that if he ate all his meal he would get a candy cane.
After a year of struggling...I am so proud of both of them!!
For those of you wondering...I did take ONE bite. BJ took one and thought it too disgusting for another.
